SENIOR MANAGER — ASSAY DEVELOPMENT

Outstanding Opportunities for Qualified Candidates:
Canon U.S. Life Sciences, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Manager to lead development of molecular diagnostic assays and reagents for genetic analysis instrumentation. The incumbent will coordinate administrative function of the Assay Development division and tactical integration of teams across divisions within R&D. We seek an extraordinary individual who has deep technical understanding and experience in molecular diagnostic assay development, and a proven ability to motivate and lead teams of scientists and engineers to accomplish product development goals.
Responsibilities:

bullet Oversee Assay Development group. Supervise professional individual contributors. Responsible for performance and activities of direct reports.
bullet Ensure goals and deadlines for assay development are met.
bullet Determine tactics for meeting operational objectives and work plans and mobilize resources accordingly.
bullet Help develop and adapt policies and processes for Assay Development group.
bullet Oversee the application/implementation of new work processes.
bullet Responsible for developing and meeting budget goals of unit.
bullet May develop budgets for capital expenditures and labor.
bullet Collaborate with other top managers to establish company policies.
bullet Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
bullet Oversee and coordinate product/project teams from conception through development cycle.
bullet Implement and communicate the strategic and technical direction for the product/project team.
bullet Identify customer needs for specific projects and programs and manages their development and execution.
bullet Work closely with corporate development to develop overall launch plan for new products.

bullet Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biological Sciences or related discipline.
bullet 10 years of scientific and development experience, with progressively more responsible positions. Experience must include at least one product launch.
bullet Minimum of 5 years experience managing scientists.
bullet Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
bullet Excellent representational skills, equally comfortable in the scientific and business arenas.
