Job Description and Key Responsibilities:
Canon U.S. Life Sciences, Inc. is currently seeking a highly creative person to provide expert design engineering and fabrication expertise for complex microfluidic devices and diagnostic instruments. This Sr. Microfabrication Engineer will resolve highly complex issues and coordinate the details of prototype development and testing including injection molding, micro and nano fabrication methods at it relates to combining integrated functions onto microfluidic systems.
bullet Lead project integration and design tasks to improve the quality and function of products and/or methods
bullet Perform root cause analysis and provide risk assessment of designs in consideration of the clinical and medical use environments for molecular diagnostic instruments
bullet Source and manage external contractors and prototype fabrication companies
bullet Provide project planning input and manage timelines
bullet Meet design objectives and project milestones. Improvement on component performance by successful prototype design and test
bullet Provide project management methods and obtain the input of others to design and execute system solutions
bullet Create practical design solutions that can be tested and manufactured
bullet Resolve technical issues with team members for instrument and component designs
Requirements:
Requirements Listed in Bullet Form
bullet BS or MS degree in Engineering
bullet Minimum 6 years experience in a product development/design environment
bullet Proven ability to manage highly technical projects
bullet Ability to write and maintain complex engineering specification documents and procedures
bullet Medical device and/or clinical diagnostics experience preferred
bullet Experience with CAD software packages (such as SolidWorks) is preferred
bullet Excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and flexibility/multi-tasking with attention to detail are essential
