Job Description and Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking an outstanding scientist to adapt and develop PCR-based assays for a new platform featuring leading edge Canon technology and engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a team-oriented environment with both scientists and engineers in Canon's state-of-the-art, life sciences research facility in Rockville, MD. This Senior Scientist will also manage external collaborations with our university and company partners to identify new pharmocogenetic targets and develop PCR-based assays for our Lab-on-a-chip platform. We are looking for someone with an excellent background and experience in human genetic assay development and a strong desire to make the benefits of personalized diagnostic medicine readily accessible to the medical community through new, low-cost and high performance Canon platforms.
Requirements:
Requirements Listed in Bullet Form
bullet Ph.D. in human molecular genetics or closely related field.
bullet 4+ years, post Ph.D. experience, in progressively more responsible MDx R&D positions.
bullet 2+ years of direct experience in commercial diagnostic, PCR-based assay R&D.
bullet Experience and broad knowledge of human molecular diagnostic assay technology and targets, including human, pharmacogenetic assays.
bullet Excellent representational skills and successful project management experience with university/industry collaborative R&D.
bullet Strong desire to develop molecular diagnostic assays development utilizing novel chemistries and instrumentation.
bullet Excellent team-building skills, self-motivation, flexibility/multi-tasking with attention to detail.
